My background

Yes, I know: Product Leadership is challenging.

I’ve done it for many years.

I've been actively building and leading product organizations for over 12 years in different contexts.

As a people manager I have directly managed almost a hundred individual product managers, product leaders and experts in adjacent fields such as UX, Data, Editorial, Product Ops & Product Marketing and helped them grow in their roles and beyond.

As a product leader I provided direction through product visions, strategies & objectives as well as by shaping the ways of working and encouraging positive collaboration. These guardrails empowered my teams to make best use of their individual and collective expertise and pull in the same direction.

As a departmental leader I established fruitful partnerships with my tech & design counterparts, enabled commercial organizations and represented the product perspective in the top management.

Together we succesfully shaped and marketed products used by over 20 millions of registered users in B2C and 20M of ARR in B2B.

Since 25 years I am involved in building digital products, services & communication solutions in B2B, B2C and B2B2C contexts and domains such as social networks, martech, SaaS, digital publishing, collaboration, events, marketplaces, e-commerce and FMCG.

Personal notes

I live in Hamburg Eimsbüttel with my wife Lotta and our two kids Frieda (18) and Oskar (16). I am very proud of them!

In my free time I enjoy doing sports (running, swimming, fitness), I play bass with my friends in Pau and I start reading too many non-fiction books (the good ones I also finish).

I enjoy travelling, most often to France (Finisterre, Minervois) and Portugal (Porto) where we lived for a year while I helped to ramp up a development hub for XING.
But I’m also always keen to explore new places & new cuisines.

I’m a strong believer in curiosity as one of the most important personality traits for product people. So it’s no coincidence that the company I have with Petra to run Product at Heart is called Cultivate Curiosity.
